Most leaders treat visibility as an event: a big announcement, a well-timed post, a keynote that lands. Those moments matter, but they rarely last.
The third phase of Evidence-Based Storytelling™ is Publish, and it’s the phase most often confused with simply “posting content.” In the EBS™ framework, publishing isn’t a moment. It’s a discipline: a reliable rhythm of putting original thinking into the world, sustained long enough that people and platforms begin to recognize a pattern.
Key Points
- A publishing schedule creates accountability. Consistency requires intentional time and repeatable workflows.
- Publishing isn’t the same as posting. Strategic content must serve a defined audience, message, and purpose.
- Evidence gives visibility substance. EBS™ connects documented accomplishments with compelling leadership narratives.
- Consistency compounds into authority. Purposeful publishing creates more opportunities for discovery, engagement, and professional recognition.
A publishing schedule creates accountability
Good intentions don’t produce consistent content. Schedules do. When you commit to a defined cadence, publishing stops competing with everything else on your calendar and becomes part of how you lead.
That consistency requires intentional time and repeatable workflows: a set rhythm for capturing ideas, drafting, designing, reviewing, and distributing. In 2024, I committed to a Monday-through-Friday publishing schedule, along with LinkedIn Lives, podcast interviews, and collaborations with other professionals. The schedule held me accountable on the days inspiration didn’t.
Publishing isn’t the same as posting
Posting is activity. Publishing is strategy. Every piece of strategic content should serve a defined audience, carry a clear message, and advance a specific purpose. Before you publish, ask three questions:
Who is this for? What do I want them to understand? What should it lead to?
Content that can’t answer those questions adds noise, not authority.
Evidence gives visibility substance
Visibility without evidence is just exposure. What separates a thought leader from a frequent poster is proof: the documented accomplishments, outcomes, and lessons behind the message.
EBS™ connects the evidence you gathered in the Document phase with compelling leadership narratives, so every piece you publish demonstrates expertise rather than simply claiming it.
Consistency compounds into authority
A single post earns attention for a day. Purposeful publishing, sustained over time, creates more opportunities for discovery, engagement, and professional recognition. Audiences return because they know where to find you. Platforms surface your work because they recognize the pattern. And your body of work begins speaking for you when you’re not in the room.
My 2024 rhythm led to three LinkedIn Top Voice recognitions in Thought Leadership, Team Building, and Mindfulness, followed by recognition as a Thinkers360 Top Voice in 2025. None of them were the goal. They were the result of compounding consistency.
Where Publish fits in Evidence-Based Storytelling™
Publish is the third of six phases in the Evidence-Based Storytelling™ (EBS™) framework: Build → Document → Publish → Amplify → Validate → Compound. Build creates the foundation, Document captures the proof, and Publish puts that proof into the world on a rhythm people can rely on.
The takeaway
Visibility built on a single well-timed moment is fragile. Visibility built on a purposeful, evidence-based publishing schedule is durable. The most recognized leaders aren’t always the loudest voices in the room. They’re the ones who keep showing up, on schedule, with substance.
